So as many of you know, real estate doesn’t come with a retirement package. You need to save a large portion of what you make because retirement is on YOU. I just took my family to Sunriver, OR and this could be it! It was 68 degrees, air was clear and water was different. Not just because they don’t add fluoride and all that other hipster stuff. It’s just different down there! People were nice, as always, the animals were fat and well it’s kind of like an old Disney movie minus the woman singing in the woods. Could this be the perfect place to retire? Maybe.
As we drive through Bend I look at the large newer built homes from the 2006/2007 era of building and think about the number of people who flocked here during the boom. Downtown is a cornucopia of new and old. They have super fancy designer shops mixed with mom and pop stores that have been there for decades. They have Mt. Bachelor for skiing and snowboarding, the Deschutes River, golfing, riding, hiking and everything else outdoors. It’s pretty much perfect.
Here’s a call out to all my agents. Take the drive and set the goal! I used to have a picture in my wallet of a dream home my wife and I loved. I looked at it every time I opened my wallet to pull out a Washington as a reminder. The reminder was this is your home and you will own something like to soon. 6 months later we were closing and the house was soon outs. Going to Sunriver was a great opportunity to dream big again. It’s a time where I can stop and smell the flowers and my cell phone will be used to play Solitaire, not used as an extension of something that’s part of me. We have a house next to The Village on Fawn Lane if you need some time off. It took everything I had to drive home last night and not stay for another…forever.
Take a look for yourself. Just make sure you’re back by Monday, or you might just have to relocate,
